It seems that Garmin are getting rather inconsistent with there service. Edited November 12, by Mad H ter. Posted November 16, Garmins reply: Garmin do not repair the majority of faulty unit's returned, as the spares are not available to enable a service engineer to do this and by replacing the unit like for like for the customer this also speeds up the turn around time.

This fee is a fixed rate fee and includes a replacement unit and a new 12 month warranty and so this is far more cost effective than purchasing a new unit.
