The trick here is like we previously mentioned, is the importance of doing these steps in order. Many people get sober, and immediately want to go out and apologize to all the people, the exes, the family members, that they have hurt in the past. As I mentioned, the list of your amends to make will most often be made during the 4th step process , it will be a combination of both your Harms Done list and maybe even some of your Resentments and Sexual Inventory.

A lot of people say that by making amends, they truly started to feel like they were getting somewhere in their sobriety. They began to sense that psychic change that we are promised in the Big Book, and that their relationships were able to start healing. In order to get to this point, we have to have done enough internal investigation on ourselves to really WANT to change, as we have worked our butts off to get to this point.
