Tribes 2 patch history

I love Tribes 2 base but all the servers that are left run different mods. I've played both Tribes and Tribes 2, but for clarity's sake I played Tribes2 before Tribes and only started playing Tribes2 since the rerelease patch meaning I personally never dealt with any bugs.

So, I'm of the opinion that Tribes2 is far superior to Tribes and I just know I'll get flamed for saying that. Tribes2 added so much over Tribes. First, the amazing UI, one of the best I've ever used in all my years of gaming; second, tons of great additions to the gameplay such as new packs for the players to use, ability to modify existing base turrets for different types of firepower, deployables such as turrets and sensors, new vehicles I absolutely love running over people in my Beowulf assault tank.

I have never fealt for a second that Tribes2 is slow paced, even after going back and playing Tribes. Gist of it; Tribes2 adds so much over Tribes, is a blast to play and fuck all who oppose me; cowboy capturing and base rape make me furious and a pox upon all of you who've participated in such things. The final patch included Classic, which is good for those of you looking for more T1-type feel. It's not exactly like T1, but it's close enough to make it damn fun.

Classic aslo makes some of the 'crappier' maps that originally shipped with T2 a lot faster-paced. Reversion is the prime example that comes readily to mind.

The patch also included Team Rabbit 2, which is fun, but doesn't have many servers out there. However, TR2 is a great diversion to have at a LAN party, especially if you've got six to ten people. I know I got a nice framerate boost from the patch at the very least. Those of you with high-end cards can now crank up the details, and when you do, you'll find that T2 is a damn pretty game. Base, as it stands now, is pretty well balanced as base tends to go.

You'll still need highly coordinated offense to clear away the D so your team can grab, but that's been the case with base the whole time. T2 lacks the proper blast-shadowing that was present in T1, which is my only really major gripe against the game.

Makes HD a real bitch at times. I am torn between Tribes 1 and Tribes 2. Graphically, well, Tribes 2 is fucking gorgeous. Gameplay "feel" in Tribes 1 has no comparison; The death screams, the mortar and land-mine blasts, etc. However, the bombers and shit in Tribes 2 are fucking badass.

I only wish they'd kept the physics feel and skiing with Tribes 2. The skiing is what made Tribes 1 a really challenging game, sometimes; If you were a good skiier, you could make it across the map with a light-armor and energy pack effortlessly; Otherwise, you ate dirt like the bitch you were.

That was fucking intense. Refer for the other thread for my thoughts on the latest patch. I'll add that T2 is probably easier to pick up and have fun with right now T1 looking very dated , but at the core it is far less balanced and elegant. If you do pick T2, do yourself a favor and play Classic, Base is a travesty.

Having AA enabled makes the 2D part unreadable, unless this was fixed in newer Radeon drivers. Please give examples as to how Tribes2 is less balanced? And Classic does nothing but break any balance in the game. Base Tribes 2 balance is generally screwed because competent defense can easily lock the flag down, especially in a standoff situation.

Pub games suck in particular, because the one player that's trying to grab can't make a difference and it's simply not possible to get enough coordination going on a pubby to counter people HOFing and deploying, if they know what they're doing. As a result there is very little flag movement or chasing, which to me seems to be the essence of CTF gameplay.

Add blindspamming fraghunters and T2 manages to eliminate both trademarks of tribes- the speed AND the skill. Tribes 1 was one of the best games I've never played.
